Waterstone swimmers show their stuff
Waterstone College's swimming team broke records and achieved first place at the 2015 inter-high swimming competition.
WATERSTONE College’s high school swimming team has improved and achieved impressive results.
The team came first at their inter-high swimming competition in 2015 in Division 2. They were bumped up to Division 1 this season and achieved a first place position at the inter-high swimming competition held at Saheti School on Tuesday, March 1.
According to Waterstone College spokesperson Shandene Hinkley. the team worked exceptionally hard despite a very rainy season, by practicing in their indoor heated pool.
Twenty-one swimmers came first in their events and qualified to compete at the Prestige Gala on March 8 where they excelled, obtaining four gold medals and four bronze medals.
This team has broken a total of 43 school records in one season. Thomas Woodhead obtained two gold medals for 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly, which is a Prestige Record at 30:22 seconds. Chanté Rademan obtained the two gold medals for 50m breaststroke and freestyle. The u.14 200m freestyle relay team took the bronze medal – Sharne Drysdale, Joshua Swanepoel, Leah White and Thomas Woodhead made up the team.
