Hats off to SAPS

I want to thank Alberton SAPS for commendable service.

INVARIABLY we generally tend to complain about “bad service” to the press, around a braai, at informal get-togethers, yep the normal status quo.

This time actually, the exact opposite. Commendable service by our local SAPS!

Recently I met with some friends at a local restaurant to enjoy lunch, shoot the breeze and share some quality time together.

After all was said and done, I got back to my car and noticed leaves on the seats, thinking that I may have left the sunroof open, or perhaps even hail damage.

Alas! Some unscrupulous person had forcefully broken a window, also damaging the decorative panel and slide rubber, although nothing of value was visible from the outside.

Needless to say, a local security company was alerted and within two minutes they were on the scene, did a quick overall check and contacted SAPS who arrived merely moments later.

Without any shenanigans the SAPS investigation officers professionally summed up the extend of the incident, took statements and promised a case number within a few hours.

Low and behold, later that very evening an SMS confirming the case number!

Early the next morning, a courtesy call from a SAPS detective, who enquired whether the car was available for finger printing.

Shortly before noon, a SAPS forensics officer arrived and dusted the car just like in the movies! Satisfied with her find, she informed us that we can expect a follow-up call.

Early next morning again, yes a call from Alberton SAPS confirming modi operandi.

Hats off to the Alberton SAPS I say!
