Power problem in Florentia

We stay at a house in Smit Road, Florentia and have been experiencing problems with the electricity supply.

WE stay at a house in Smit Road, Florentia and have been experiencing problems with the electricity supply.

When we have power, one of the other four houses (that receive their power from the same pole) is without power and vice versa. We have called numerous times complaining about this and every time the metro just sends someone to come fiddle with the pole. The power would be out for several days before they come and fix it.

Its now reached a boiling point for us, we want them to come and fix the pole, replace all of the old spares, not just fiddle with the pole or cut the trees.

They won’t acknowledge the problem nor can we get someone to come and have a look.

Please investigate this matter and see if you can get some kind of answer as to why we struggle with the power supply to our, and the surrounding homes. We just get “your complaints have been noted and someone will be sent out” or “it must be something in your house that trips the supply”.

We can’t take it anymore.

The RECORD contacted the municipality and received the following reply:

“The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality’s (EMM) eMIS records indicate that calls were received on May 8 and 9, from various customers in Smit Road then again from the complainant on Saturday, May 21.

“A circuit breaker was replaced on Saturday, May 21.

“The cutting of trees will continue as it is part of maintenance, EMM technicians will continue to monitor and will replace old components on frequently failing circuits,” said Themba Gadebe, spokesperson for the EMM.
