BEING back in the area where she grew up brought back memories for Amor Vitonne when she performed at Klipkoppiefees on May 29. Amor chatted with the RECORD before her gig on Sunday, May 29, at Klipkoppiefees’, held on Meyer’s Farm in Alberton.
“My newest album, ‘Die Tyd is Nou’, that came out at the end of last year, is doing very well and today I’m doing some of those songs, as well as a few Kylie Minogue hits to get the crowd going”, said Amor.
When asked about whether this is her first time at the festival, she replied by saying: “It is my first time, but strangely enough, I grew up quite close to here, so it’s nice to be back home”.
The RECORD: What is you favourite song on your album and why?
Amor: “There are a few that I really like, and that have a lot of meaning in my life and what I’ve been through in the last three years. I also worked with great artists like Connell Cruise and Vaughan Gardiner, which also made them special. ‘Sprei my vlerke’ is very meaningful, as well as ‘Te laat vir totsiens’, and there is a Dixie Chicks song that is quite edgy and have translated, ‘Nie reg om reg te maak’, that I’m really excited about.
Crowd-pleaser Amor, finished off by saying: “My team is integral to my work, my name and image is on the album cover, but people, like my sound engineer and the rest of my crew are vital to my success, I could not do it without them”.
