Election posters a concern

Paying residents should not carry non-payers

As a concerned resident, may I have my say and raise some questions. I have seen election posters plastered all over Alberton.

While I agree with some of the good intentions of “Corruption must fall” and “Stop political bickering” I am extremely concerned with the posters that say “Outstanding debt must fall”.

I am a pensioner and over the years I have always paid all my dues. The fact that the poster suggests that people owing money may have their debts written off and they will be let off the hook, does not sit well with me.

I have no problem with Council subsidising the genuinely indigent people, however I must question as to why my money should go towards paying for the people who are not willing to pay? I feel these posters encourage non-payment.
