Vehicle stolen in five minutes

A case of vehicle theft is being investigated by Eden Park SAPS.

A COUPLE in Hudson Street, Eden Park, could not believe their eyes when their Toyota Tazz was stolen in a matter of five minutes recently.

Kiewiet Greaver and his wife were ready to leave for work but never got to leave since their vehicle disappeared from their driveway.

“I pulled out of the yard, parked the car in the driveway and wiped off the windscreen. I then ran into the house to collect a box and to tell my wife to hurry up. I had just put on my jacket and was about to pick up the box when I realised that I heard my car being started and then there was the sound of spinning tyres and my car was gone,” Kiewiet said.

He confessed to the RECORD that he made a terrible mistake of leaving his keys in the ignition.

“There was nobody near my premises. Where they came from, I don’t know. Even passers-by said they did not see where the thieves came from. This is my second car stolen in similar fashion. The first one was on Youth Day in 1999 while visiting friends in Brackenhurst. We came out after a short conversation and our Toyota Corolla was gone,” said Kiewiet.
