Sick and tired of drugs in Alberton North

I am reaching the end of my tether, because this is disgusting and unacceptable.

During the last four years, drugs being sold in Alberton North has caused me endless stress.

This has been reported several times to the Alberton Police Station, Crime Line, and 10111, with no response. When the police from Alberton arrive, it is a joke, hands get shaken and then they leave. Children are also entering the back rooms of this drug house.

The dealings and smoking of dagga have a big impact on my own children, my wife and other neighbours as they do it in front of my house and in their back yard, with a lot of noise night and day.

I fear for our safety, because they look at us in a very disturbing way, and the neighborhood is in big trouble when I see small children coming next door to buy drugs and the police do absolutely nothing.

The owner of the house knows about all this, and just swears at me when I call him.

When he moved in, I saw him connect his sewerage to my sewerage line, which causes constant blockages now, yet another thing that the officials don’t care about. I know for a fact that he has not complied with bylaws regarding building, etc, along with being a drug den, of course.

I am reaching the end of my tether, because this is disgusting and unacceptable.

I feel like I should protect my family, but when the laws protect the criminals, what can you do?

My children are busy with exams, but can’t focus because of the constant noise and dealings, and of course I fear for their safety.

I want everyone in the community to start coming together to fight this scourge, because the officials who are meant to protect us don’t care, and in fact often seem to be directly involved in the very acts of crime we need protection from.

Concerned Alberton resident

When the RECORD approached the Alberton Police, Captain Ramotshela said: “Thank you for giving us that information we are working on it”.

We also attempted to contact the owner of the house in question, but he did not answer our calls.
