Rowing festival at Wemmer Pan

Meet the SA rowers Lawrence Brittain and Shaun Keeling at the festival.

TWO rowers who were among South Africa’s medallists at the recent Rio Olympics Games will be hosted at the Wemmer Pan Rowing Festival on Saturday, October 8,

All are most welcome to have a fun day at Wemmer Pan, while picking up tons of information about rowing and interacting with rowing celebrities.

This year’s Wemmer Sprints, hosted by the 105-year-old Wemmer Pan Rowing Club, is being combined with an entertainment-packed celebratory festival.

“You can look forward to big-screen updates and information to help you make sense of the rowing action, delectable chef-quality food, tasty craft beer, energetic five-a-side football, fascinating craft stalls and social media competitions offering great prizes,” said Elra de Jager, chairperson of the Wemmer Pan Rowing Club.

“The day will end with live music, braais and the Springboks vs All Blacks match on the big screen. This massive party will be a fitting way to close off the first regatta of the Gauteng rowing calendar, at which schools, universities and rowing clubs from all over Gauteng will have tried their mettle. “

“Come along to see rowers from 12 to over 70 in action over 600 and 702 metres. The racing will be highly visible, from start to finish. Wemmer offers the very best regatta in Gauteng from a race visibility perspective.”

Advertising space will be available on the big screen throughout the day. In the past, almost 1 000 people walked through the gates for the Wemmer Sprints. This year promises to be even bigger ,so don’t miss this opportunity.
