Alberton resident gets threatened with expropriation

We have been harassed by Massel Properties to sell a portion of our property in Louis Trichardt Street where Eskom will erect a pylon to carry the 400kW power able.

We have refused the offer and they have threatened that the property will be expropriated by Government.

I have contacted the landlords of the Alberton Gateway Centre on the corner of Voortrekker Road and Ring Road East and they are completely unaware of the Eskom Powerline that will run above their property.

The RECORD contacted Eskom and Massel Properties for comment, but at the time of going to print, Massel Properties did not respond, and Ntombifuthi Hlophe from Eskom had this to say: “Please note that I am attending to your enquiry through our different technical teams. Transmission lines projects falls under Transmission Division and I have also involved my colleagues from that division. We will revert back to you soon.”

We will keep readers updated on progress and/or when/if Eskom comments.

The RECORD will also make contact with the landlords of Alberton Gateway Centre for comment.
