TV star Mo’s own stage show Mo Magic comes to Johannesburg to entertain
Mo Magic is set to mesmerize in debut show in Johannesburg at The Fringe at Joburg Theatre, October 20 to 23.
MO MAGIC is set to mesmerize in his debut live show in Johannesburg at The Fringe at Jo’burg Theatre, from Thursday October 20 to 23.
That starts a nationwide theatre tour to follow SABC3’s weekly prime time ‘Magic with Mo’ TV show, in which he recently astonished, amazed and entertained a number of celebrities, personalities and members of the public. A first of its kind for South Africa, the TV show gained a tremendous following from the viewing public and rose to be the channel’s second-most watched South African show behind Isidingo. Additionally, the only international shows with larger viewerships were Bold and the Beautiful and Days of our Lives, both on air for decades with a long standing following.
“Magic with Mo has pulled out an ace for SABC3 with a whopping increase in viewership since its premiere. Not an easy feat on a Saturday night. This growth is a good example of a show slowly building by being engaging or entertaining,” was TVSA’s assessment. “I’m thrilled the TV show was so well received. South Africans are clearly appreciating the art of magic and I’m honoured to be sharing it with them,” commented Mo.
This is Mo’s 14th year as an exponent of magic, so the audience can expect to see some of the magic, mentalism (mind-reading magic), stunts – as featured on the TV show – and other routines saved especially for the 90 minute theatre show. He’ll also have you in stitches with his clean comedy and witty ad-libs. “I’m ecstatic that audiences across the country are enjoying my theatre show and I’m excited to bring my show to Johannesburg. This is the first time I’ll perform my theatre show in the province,” Mo commented.
With an Honours degree in Electronic Engineering, Mo resigned from a lucrative career as a project manager to pursue his passion for the art of magic in 2010. “The realisation of my dream: to share the art of magic with South Africans regularly on TV, taking it to them in their homes – happened in 2015.”
Mo is also a brand ambassador for Child Welfare Durban and District, using the tour to spread awareness about the contribution made by the organisation towards “giving childhood back to children”. He’s combined a message with an illusion in the show, to spread the news.
After the magician’s ambitious nationwide tour, the show will then travel internationally.
Tickets for Mo Magic cost R150 and can be purchased through www.webtickets.co.za or www.joburgtheatre.com. No under 6’s permitted and no admittance after start of performance. The show runs Thursday to Saturday at 19:30 with a Sunday matinee at 14:00. The Fringe at Joburg Theatre is located at 163 Civic Boulevard, Braamfontein.
