Alrode BMX aims to continue producing champions
It's produced some great SA and international champions and that's set to continue for years to come.
ALRODE BMX will be having a race day on Saturday, December 3 from 14:00.
The day is open to anyone who wants to attend and is open to all bikes and riders of all ages – and the entry fee for the day, is R80 per person.
Alrode BMX track is situated in Alberton and has been a beacon of BMX around Johannesburg since 1982.
It’s produced some great SA and international champions and that’s set to continue for years to come.
This track has the honour of having produced the only three SA riders to have attended the Olympics; all three started their career at Alrode BMX.
Sifiso Nhlapo (#105) known as “The African Pull” represented his country at the 2008 Beijing Games as well as 2012 in London. In addition, he’s won several UCI and SX events and has dominated international BMX for years.
Next was Alex Limberg (#950) known as ‘The Duke’, who represented South Africa at the Youth Olympics in Nanjing in China in 2014 – as well as Manchester SX. He’s a multiple SA champion and a serious contender in SA’s Elite BMX circuit in. He has a silky smooth style and continues to make strides in his international career.
Last but not least, is Kyle Dodd (#216), known as ‘Mr Cool’. Kyle has been crowned SA champion an incredible 14 times and recently represented SA at the Rio Olympics 2016, where he narrowly missed out on a spot in the semi-finals. He’s an intelligent rider who never loses his head, no matter what the situation is.
A big thanks to Alrode BMX as well as coaches, track management and officials who’ve assisted these and other riders, in achieving their ambitions and dreams.
You’ll surely remain the breeding ground for future champions!
