Suné Steenkamp took home a gold medal as well as a silver, at the event.
Clubs in Gauteng registered with SAKA (South African Amateur Kickboxing Association) got to show what they’re made of, when they took on the Capetonians (Western Province) on the weekend of October 22.
The tournament was a good opportunity to not only hone skills, but also to socialise and compare techniques with people from another part of the country. Western Province won the first team event and Gauteng won the second, leading to a respectable tie between the teams.
“Of course, none of this would be possible without head coach for the Gauteng team, Eddie Theron, who worked hard to organise everything, along with sponsors Allegiance Properties – who kindly sponsored myself (coach, Sarah O’Donnell) and Suné Steenkamp to be able to get down to Cape Town. We also thank Julian Cornofsky and Jorge Calisto,” said the club’s Sarah O’Donnell.
