Beneke first over the line at Ride for Sight

"I'm glad I’ve out done myself and went just under that set time."

CALVIN Beneke took top spot at this year’s Dis-Chem Ride for Sight, winning the 116km race in a time of 02:40:53.

The cycling event, that took place on Sunday, February 19, saw over 6 000 cyclists take part in the race that is in aid of the search for a cure to blindness, sponsored by Dis-Chem in partnership with the City of Ekurhuleni.

“All my hard work has paid off, it took commitment, discipline and determination for me to achieve my desired goal today. I had set myself a bench mark of three hours to finish the race, but I’m glad I’ve out done myself and went just under that set time,” said the victorious Calvin (25), who was riding for Telkom.
