The Alberton DA councillors are aware of the issues raised in the Alberton RECORD which give us an insight into the frustrations of the ratepayers in their daily struggles in respect of the non-performance of the ANC coalition-run municipality.
As councillors we can assure the community that we are constantly questioning and exposing all aspects of inefficient service delivery.
The non-functioning call centre is at the core of many of the problems. We identify with all residents who are highly discontented with the inability to report their issues. The telephone numbers previously mentioned at the back of the municipal accounts, were actually done away with as from December 2015 leaving the only alternative of sending e-mails to callcentre@ekurhuleni.gov.za
The Alberton councillors have on various occasions submitted petitions, have also submitted a motion to council for a toll-free number but to no avail. The ruling party is obstinately refusing to implement satisfactory solutions even though budget is available.
The desecration of the Alberton CBD by the proposed Eskom pylons is one more point proving that the ruling party is not serious about the wellbeing of the residents of Alberton and allowing Eskom to pressurise them into accepting the unacceptable. Recently the incorrect Sec 49 Property valuation notices were sent to residents causing great consternation. The community is now waiting for the correct information and apologies.
The inability of the Metro to fill funded vacant positions in all critical departments is adding to the council’s inability to give efficient service delivery and the DA is calling for the urgent resolution of this issue.
Your Alberton councillors pledge to continue fighting the good fight with and on behalf of the ratepayers of the town.
