THE Cantare Choir production of Alice in Wonderland was a mesmerising 90 minutes of talent which left the audience awestruck. To stage a production of this calibre does not only take hours of rehearsal, a director with a keen eye for detail and a cast with enthusiasm and talent, but some funds and assistance from the community for the costumes, props and lighting.
The main grantor was the Gauteng Department Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation. It is evident that the department truly wishes to involve itself with the development of culture within the province. It was a pleasure to host Mr Kenneth Mathaba, chairperson of the Gauteng Arts and Culture Council at the opening performance of the show. To quote Mr. Mathaba, “This was the best production the GACC has sponsored thus far. We are very impressed with the show Cantare has put up.”
The other sponsors who came forward to assist with the production and funding were Hennie Alberts Self-Storage, Travel Delight, TLB Pools, Kooweee Studio, The Art Farm, Monster Productions, 1st Gear Driving Academy, Just Gotta Dance, Kids Group, Serenity Guest House Alberton, and the Ekurhuleni Parks division. Our hearty thanks to the Alberton RECORD for assisting us in our mission to bring this production to the community.
The production team and all the kids would like to thank these sponsors for their contribution, as any production needs people like these. Lastly, we would like to thank the parents of the children who worked hours behind the scenes, sacrificing their time to ensure that the show was a success. That’s why we love you, Mum and Dad.
