Win a Champion Cup experience of a lifetime

All to play for the Carling Black Label trophy.

LOCAL fans will be able to vote for who they see fit to play for Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates in this year’s Carling Black Label Cup.

The seventh edition of the Carling Black Label Cup will be played on July 29 at the FNB Stadium. The match will start at 15.30.

Two of the most popular local Premier Soccer League (PSL) teams, who are based in the South, will battle it out for this most coveted trophy.

The Buccaneers have their nose in front, having lifted the trophy four times, while the Amakhosi took it home twice.

The championship affords local fans the opportunity to select their players and coaches before the match. For the first time, fans will also be able to advise in which format their team must play during the match.

The four formations provided to the fans are: the oldest but still in regular use 4-4-2, giving both attacking and defensive balance, the offensive 3-5-2 and 3-4-3, placing more players up the pitch for high pressure football, and the most popular attacking formation in modern football 4-3-3, leaving enough cover at the back for possible counter-attacks.

“We have witnessed the magnitude of the Carling Champion Cup over the years and the opportunity it provides for ordinary men to feel like champions. Therefore, it was time to expand in honouring the ethos of the brand and holistically rewarding our Champion Coaches for their support throughout the years by placing all elements associated with coaching in their hands,” said Carling Black Label Brand Director Samori Gambrah.

“Our partnership with the PSL giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates has truly been well received by the fans over the years, particularly bearing in mind the thousands of votes we receive each year from passionate supporters who love their teams. Fans have been given the opportunity to ‘Be the Champion Coach’ and it is something that they have truly embraced.” said Gambrah.
