Transformer box poses deadly risk

This is obviously a big danger and the municipality has not fixed it after several weeks.

I would like to raise my concerns about an open transformer box on Fifth Avenue, Alberton North.

A few weeks ago, someone crashed into the box, with a car I think, leaving wires and things inside exposed.

This is obviously a big danger and the municipality has not fixed it after several weeks.

RECORD contacted the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality for comment. Here is what EMM spokesperson Themba Gadebe had to say:

“The City of Ekurhuleni department will replace the missing door on the low-voltage side of the mini substation that was vandalised and removed by an unknown person as confirmed on May 5.

“Residents are urged to report any vandalism and theft to municipal property to the call center on 086 054 3000.”
