Theft syndicate definitely operating at Alberton City

My letter is to warn other people.

I wish to respond to a letter in the Alberton RECORD of July 5 in which a mother describes how her daughter’s phone was stolen.

I agree with the writer that there is possibly a syndicate stealing cellphones as my daughter was also a victim. Her cellphone was stolen from her school blazer pocket inside one of the stores. We must have been followed from the entrance to the store by three ladies. Two of them distracted us whilst shopping.

While at the police station there was another case reported, also a cellphone stolen at Alberton City.

The theft of the brand new phone was reported to the store’s head office and mall management as well. I was told to speak to security so I phoned them and spoke to the gentleman in charge. He told me that there are no cameras inside the store, but that there are cameras in the mall and that he could check the footage.

I gave him all the details of date, time and a description of myself and my daughter.

I believe that it was possible to trace these women. Still to date I have not received any feedback from them as promised, nor the police. Perhaps the footage that is available with this recent incident can now identify these women.

My letter is to warn other people.
