“CLEAN and precious water has been running wastefully out of the ground and down the street for months on end. I have reported it to the metro on several occasions but nothing is done,” said Eugene Roots from Eden Park.
“I presume this is a damaged water pipe. I phoned the council and they gave me a reference number (258 8933). Three weeks ago some workmen arrived, looked at the bubbling water, did nothing but just said they will return. They returned after a week, dug a hole and left, leaving the gaping hole, which is a danger to the children,” said the Bentley Street resident.
Eugene told the RECORD that there seems to be a water pipe problem in Bentley Street. Months ago the bubbling water came from the centre of the street, exactly a metre from the current spot. The leak was repaired after months of constant reporting.
“I don’t know why the council is taking so long to repair damaged water pipes. They are the people who warn us to use water sparingly and not waste this precious commodity. And they are the ones who waste it,” he said.
