ALBERTON High School’s mountain biking team are training hard for the Gauteng Series.

August has been a busy month, with the second race of August at Bekker High School in Magaliesberg (Tour De Plaas) and the third race at Waterboom High School in Pretoria (Tour De Wonder). The first race (Tour De Vaal) was cancelled due to rainy conditions and that particular race was substituted for joining in with one of the North West series’ as a friendly.

The school team’s last race in the series will be held at St Stithian’s in Randburg, appropriately named Tour De Bling.

Nine of the Alberton High School MTB (Mountain Biking) members raced, covering all the various age categories and finishing in decent times, the majority of which clocked in below 60 minutes. The rough terrain and technicality of the last two races have prepared the team well and their coach is continuing with both indoor and outdoor training. They are hoping to improve their ranking in the Gauteng School Series from 2016 where they placed 39th overall.
