Bridge the Gap: Good luck for your exams
I can still remember starting my Martic final exam as if it was yesterday. Redbull did not exist yet but Bioplus was a perfect substitute. School was such a carefree time of one’s life.

The young people of today are the leaders of tomorrow. They represent the hope and dreams of our future – “a society where there will not be black or white, but South Africans, united in our diversity” to quote OR Tambo. On behalf of all my colleagues in Ekurhuleni I wish Grade 12 learners all the best for their final exams that start next week.
I trust you have all studied hard and you are all well prepared for the most important academic test of your school career. This is the pinnacle of your 12 years of schooling and the final winning post to open the door to your future. Make us proud!
I hope that this wish will encourage all learners to lift their moral, change their mood and motivate every learner to do well. Please take this dose of inspiration and encouragement to empower you to take control of your own future and your destiny. It is my wish that every learner will reach the maximum level of their own potential and become a contributing and valued member of society and our community.
Tata Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” As we wish our grade 12 learners well with their exams we also celebrate October as OR Tambo month. This month is the birth month of OR Tambo and the month in which we remember the late stalwart and celebrate the life of this great South African leader.
The foundation of leaders like OR Tambo paved the way for the united, democratic society we live in today. The Tambo family settled in Ekurhuleni after returning from exile in the early 90’s. The Tambos played a pivotal role in the upliftment of their community in the then East Rand, and in South Africa as a whole.
Both OR Tambo and his wife Mama Adelaide Tambo enjoy the honour of the “Freedom of the City” of Ekurhuleni. Lets’ bridge the Gap and wish all our learners well with their exams while we pay tribute to OR Tambo in October. Diamond.Neil@ekurhuleni.gov.za.
