NEW 7 PET’S BLESSING on October 7 at St Therese Catholic Church, 7 Fick Road, Florentia. To celebrate the feast of St Francis anyone who would like to bring their pets and enjoy the morning under the oak trees are welcome to join in from 10.30am to 12 noon. Father Bugler will be blessing all the animals. We then have tea and biscuits and the animals are also invited to eat cooked mince and dog food, cat food, budgie seed, carrots, rabbit food etc. It is really a very special event. There will be a training display of dogs from the Haddon Dog Club. Donations of dog food etc will be welcome and these will go to the Haddon Dog Shelter.

NEW 7 ALBERTON’S first ever under-roof market, hosted by Stepping Stone Hospice and the Meyersdal Action Sports Arena, aims to set a new standard and level of excitement as far as markets go. Wooden laser cut and painted jewellery, ladies imported clothing and accessories, fitness gadgets, arts, crafts and science experiments for the little ones are just some examples of what the 38 stall holders will have on offer. The market will take place from 9am to 5pm on October 7 in the under-roof arena at the Meyersdal Action Sports Arena. More than enough eats and drinks will be on sale, ranging from boerie rolls, chicken burgers, pancakes, hot dogs to samosas and chilli bites. A dedicated kiddies area will ensure that the young ones are entertained with the likes of small go-karts and puddling boats.

15 A K9 KARNIVAL and Family Fun Day in aid of Cause 4 Paws where all proceeds will go towards sterilisation, vaccination and outreach programmes, will be hosted at Rietvlei on October 15 from 9am to 4.30pm. Costs are R50 for adults and R30 for children. If you are bringing your dog it will cost R20 and its only R30 for them to enter into the 4km obstacle course with lots of mud for dogs and their handlers, a bag drop and dog wash. This is a day filled with fun and games for dogs and people, stalls, auctions, raffles, a live band, food, a cash bar and much more.
