MALL at Newmarket is celebrating two years in business this October.
The shopping centre opened its doors on October 22, 2015, and was developed by the Moolman Group in a joint venture with Rejem Property Development and Linton Projects, with Nedbank as finance partner.
Newmarket Racecourse was established in 1938, joining two clubs, Rand Race Cub and Newmarket Race Club, and was the first club in South African history to win the summer handicap three times, from 1956 to 1958.
Sadly, in 2001, it was officially announced that the racecourse would be closed, 63 years after its inception.
Two years in and Mall at Newmarket has become one of the main shopping destinations in the area, offering virtually everything any shopper could want, be it groceries, clothes, jewellery, food and drink, banks, sports gear and more.
Among the offerings one can expect to find are:
PG Optics and I-Care Optometrists: these businesses are there to look after all your eye-care needs;
Absolutely Water: its primary business is the importation and marketing of single filters, distillers, dispensers, reverse osmosis water purification systems and parts, bottling plants and the like. They also carry stock of all replacement parts for said systems;
Gold Rush: for the mild gamblers out there, Gold Rush Bingo is the place to be for some fun entertainment.
Decathlon: this sporting goods store gives you access to technology-leading sports equipment for virtually every sport at great prices.
Several other developments are also going on at the site. Watch this space.
