Grab your mate and enter today

All funds raised over the past two years towards the extension of the in-patient unit, as well as funds raised from the golf day, will be directed towards the renovation project.

YIP, it’s that time of the year again when you get to shine your golf clubs, sharpen your skills and enter Stepping Stone Hospice’s Annual Golf Day.

Renowned as one of the most exciting and fun-filled golf days on the golfing calendar, the date has been set for Wednesday, April 18 at Reading Country Club.

“With the format being betterball stableford, we have themed the day as the ‘You’re My Mate Golf Day’ with some really great prizes up for grabs – not just for the winners, but also for the best-dressed betterball team,” said Marietjie Tame, fund-raising manager at Stepping Stone Hospice.

“As a fund-raising team, we have been raising funds to extend our existing in-patient unit in New Market Park in order to cope with the increasing need for palliative care in our communities. After exploring several extension opportunities and possibilities over the past two years, which all ultimately fell short of meeting our needs in terms of priority and/or cost, infrastructure, location and other practicalities, we have finally found a solution that suits us in every way – a donation of a 450m² park home that will be renovated and added on to our existing in-patient unit allowing for an additional 12 rooms,” Marietjie explained.

All funds raised over the past two years towards the extension of the in-patient unit, as well as funds raised from the golf day, will be directed towards the renovation project.

“We are looking for players, as well as both hole and prize sponsors. The cost per player is R500, which includes halfway and the prize-giving dinner. Hole sponsorships range from R2 000 to R5 000,” said Marietjie.

As an NPO (non-profit organisation), Stepping Stone Hospice is financially dependent, to a large degree, on the generosity of individuals and the business fraternity to continue with the palliative care services they offer to patients and families facing the challenges of life-limiting illnesses.
