Illegal church too noisy for resident’s taste

"Noise measurements will be conducted to check the level of noise," said EMM.

THE RECORD recently received a complaint from an anonymous resident, which briefly explained that noise pollution was coming from an alleged illegal church at a private house in Mayberry Park.

The noise is said to be in “full throttle” at late morning to early noon on Sundays.

The RECORD went to the alleged illegal church soon after to meet the inhabitants, and they admitted that they were running a ministry at the house on Sundays.

The EMM also responded with the following: “The property in Mayberry Park was visited on February 21 and the property owner’s son, who was found at the premises, confirmed that ‘prayer services’ are held on Sundays between 12pm and 1pm.

“An investigation will be conducted in conjunction with the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) and possible noise measurements will be conducted to check the level of noise.

“If it is found that the activity is contrary to the zoning of residential erf, a contravention notice will be issued to the owners. If the matter is not rectified, the matter will be forwarded to the legal section to institute legal proceedings.”
