Bok van Blerk live at the Mardi Gras Theatre

Prepare to toe-tap, sing and sway along to the likes of ‘De La Rey’, ‘Bloedbroers’, ‘Goeie Hou’, ‘Datsun Bakkie’, ‘Reënspinnekop’, ‘68 Chevy’, and ‘Katie’.

WITH carefully thought-out lyrics and feel-good music that makes fans go crazy, Bok van Blerk will be gracing Carnival City’s Mardi Gras Theatre in an amazing and intimate show on April 20.

Prepare to toe-tap, sing and sway along to the likes of De La Rey, Bloedbroers, Goeie Hou, Datsun Bakkie, Reënspinnekop, 68 Chevy and Katie.

“It’s always an honour to host an authentic South African entertainer of this calibre on our stage. We can’t wait to rock and sway the night away with Bok van Blerk,” said Michelle Smith, marketing manager at Carnival City.

Best known for his song De la Rey, Van Blerk absolutely loves his country and culture and although this song sparked a little controversy, he had people at the edge of their seats when it was released. In no time it had reached multi-platinum status, four Huisgenoot Tempo awards, five Vonk awards and the MK TV award for Best MK music video of the year.

Although very patriotic, van Blerk also has a fun, very humorous side to him. His album Van De la Rey tot Nou and his previous album, De la Rey, contain very similar content. Sound-wise, many instruments (such as the concertina) used in recording his first album were used in his second album and while his first album featured a song by the iconic David Kramer called Katie, his latest album boasts Reënspinnekop and Winterkind by icons Valiant Swart and Koos Kombuis respectively.

Make your way to Carnival City’s Mardi Gras Theatre on April 20 8pm. Tickets are available from Computicket at R120 per person.
