Bouw’s first polo cup race a success

Altan Bouw (15), took part in his maiden Polo Cup race on March 24 at Kyalami where he qualified in 21st position.

Altan Bouw (15), who is a learner at Marais Viljoen High School, took part in his maiden Polo Cup race on March 24 at Kyalami where he qualified in 21st position.

Unfortunately, in his first race, he was tapped into a spin through Sunset corner. He managed to recover and ended the race in 17th position. Following this, he had a clean next race where he passed a third of the pack to end in an encouraging 14th.

“This was my first time at Kyalami so I had a lot to learn. I thought we were only allowed to do two flying laps so I pitted after I did mine. It was a miscommunication on my part with the team. I made up places in both races so I’m generally happy with my performance,” said Altan.
