Responce to letter “No assistance received”

Resident responds to a letter about the service she received from a police officer.

It is with much disappointment that I read this letter from ‘anonymous’. Yes, I do understand your frustration from not getting any reaction from the so called control room – which I hope you mean the 10111 centre as that is the only official SAP complaints line.

So does your local police station also have a direct number to dial for complaints, for Alberton SAP it is 011 861 6800.

I just wish that people will realise that police officers are also human beings who have a personal life. We cannot always assist with everything when we are off duty and phoning us on our personal cellphones doesn’t mean that I immediately have to respond to you.

I will however advise you in the best possible way to get assistance! Even if I need SAP assistance I also need to phone 10111. And your comment of “I urge him to remember who pays his salary” is so uncalled for!

Because dear anonymous, just like you and every other citizen in this country, police members do pay tax too. And as a matter of fact our salaries are so low that I think we pay each other’s salaries.

So please keep your half a cent contribution as it will not make any difference in my dedication towards my commitment in my job which I do because it’s a passion to me after 23 years of service.

Please note that I do respond to this letter in my personal capacity and not on behalf of the SAP or any other police member.
