First day of SA Mixed Pairs bowling completed

With the first day of Mixed Pairs bowls completed the leaders of the tournament can be seen.

The first day of the Bowls South Africa Mixed Pairs Tournament on June 20 has concluded and the teams are looking to make their presence known. The tournament, which lasts for four days, is being held at the Alberton Bowling Club.

The tournament is divided into two sections, with teams from both sections looking to reach the top of their respective logs to ensure a coveted spot for them in the final to be played on June 23. This makes the group stages all the more important as only a single team will go through to the finals.

In the blue section the pair from Kingfisher Bowls, which is situated on the South Coast, has taken a clear lead. The teams from Northern Cape and Eden Bowls Club are currently contesting a close second and third place, where the Northern Cape pair has pulled slightly ahead. Hosts and local team Ekurhuleni is currently placed eighth in the Blue Section.

In the Red Section, Boland and Sedibeng are currently placed first and second respectively. The placing between the two was determined by shot difference as they have the same scores. Gauteng North is currently placed behind the two in third place. The pair from Johannesburg is currently in eighth place in the section.

As it is still the first day the teams still have all to play for. Please be on the lookout for updates of today’s play on the Alberton Record website.
