Recently, I’ve noticed that the camphor trees in Randhart, close to where I live, are being stripped of their bark, during the day or night.
What the people who steal this bark don’t understand, is that the trees will die without it. It’s incredibly selfish of them to just strip these trees of their bark, leaving them to dry out and eventually die. It also shows the lack of respect they have towards Mother Nature and our community.
These trees have been here long before I even moved to Alberton back in the early ’80s. They’ve been here before anyone else and have the right to be left alone and respected. After all, trees are also living, breathing things.
I am kindly asking community members to help protect these trees. If you catch anyone tampering with trees or removing the bark, please stop them and be firm in letting them understand that they’re not welcome to harm trees.
