Karate ladies excel at Women’s Cup
The ladies from Sansei Goju Ryu Karate and Kobudo brought home six medals from the Women's Cup.
THE ladies of Sansei Goju Ryu Karate and Kobudo, Alberton took part at the inaugural Martial Arts South Africa (MASA) Women’s Cup on August 11. The event was held at the Thokoza Auditorium Hall.
The tournament was hosted in celebration of Women’s Month and female athletes from various martial arts codes took part. Three ladies from the Alberton Club took part and between them brought back six medals to the dojo.
The medal winners were Tam Olckers with two gold, Kalitza Blignaut, two silver and Chantelle Grove with two bronze medals.
“The Women’s Cup was a wonderful event that celebrated women in sport,” said chief instructor, Sensei Andre van Jaarsveld.
“Well done to MASA and the organisers.”
