
ALBERTON Athletics Club has secured the sponsorship of the Professional Provident Society, PPS, to stage the Alberton Half Marathon on November 11.
The Alberton Athletics Club will play host to the Alberton Half Marathon (21.1km) which will also include a 4km and 10km fun run.
PPS is sponsoring the Alberton Athletics Club race as part of its drive to increase staff participation and promote a healthy lifestyle within the organisation.
Along with PPS staff members at the Parktown head office and in Pretoria, PPS will be inviting PPS members in the Johannesburg and Pretoria regions to participate in the Alberton Half Marathon, further entrenching its support and encouragement of members to adopt and lead a healthier lifestyle.
“We are proud to be both associated with and sponsoring a race such as the Alberton Half Marathon that has distance options that will suit everyone, from those at the very start of their running life to seasoned runners. This is a race that encourages everyone to participate and we look forward to a healthy turnout,” said PPS spokesperson.
Medals will be given to all 10 and 21.1km finishers.
Details to the race are as follows:
4km entry fee R20 plus temporary licence R10
10km entry fee R80, temporary licence R25
21km entry fee R150, temporary licence R30
Pre-entries are available online at www.entrytime.com. The first 800 online entries will receive free T-shirts. Online entries close on October 29 at 5pm.

Late entries will be sold at the race venue on November 10 between 9am and 1pm, as well as before the race on November 11 from 4.30am.
Online entry numbers may be collected at the race venue on Saturday 9am and 1pm or before the race on Sunday from 4.30am.
The Alberton Athletics Club half marathon on Sunday will start and finish at the Alberton Rugby Stadium, corner Second and Braun avenues, Verwoerdpark.
