FRANS DU TOIT: “I’ve personally never used it. I think it’s a good thing for people like Rastafarians. It is OK as long as it’s not sold, but used privately.”
ON Tuesday, September 18, the Constitutional Court has officially legalised dagga use in a private capacity.
The RECORD took to the streets to ask the people what they thought of the ruling, whether this was a good or bad and why?
VERONICA SIZANI: “I don’t think it’s good because they will start selling illegal drugs with dagga. This is very dangerous.”POLLYANNA MUNETSI: “My opinion is that it’s not good; there’s no law anymore and dagga does not sit well with everyone, especially exposing it to children.”NKOSINATI MABULA: “Dagga is a natural herb. The late Ambrosini was healed by it. It’s use is fine as long as it’s private.”MDUDUZI NICKEL: “I think it’s a good thing. It helps people with diseases to get better.”MPO MOFOKENG: “I think it is good news. The only reason it has not been done sooner is because the government can’t get tax from it.”ONELE NQEKETHO: “I don’t think is right because some people will abuse it and more people will sell it instead of just smoking.”CHARLENE BLOM: “I don’t agree with the new law as I fear for the lives of our children. You get people who are irresponsible, and they will abuse this.”
