Comrades make a handful of changes including the qualifying time
Speed up it is Comrades time.

Runners who would like to compete in the 2019 Comrades ultra-marathon will have to speed up.
Comrades Marathon organisers have announced on October 11 at the launch of the 2019 ultramarathon that apart for a number of changes including two new medal categories and an increase in the number of runners allowed to enter the race, the qualifying times is a full ten minutes faster.
Runners used to have to run a sub-5 marathon to qualify for the race. This has now changed to 4:50minutes, meaning that a runner’s qualifying time has to be faster by ten minutes.
And if a runner was planning on using Two Oceans as a qualifier, then they have to finish within 6:45:00 to qualify for the Comrades.
Finishing a marathon ten minutes quicker may seem easy enough, but for many, it means their Comrades dreams may be out of reach.
The race will be run on June 9, and the cap for 2019 has been increased to 25 000 entries.
A qualifying race must be completed between August 26, 2018 and May 2, 2019, and the details submitted/updated to the organisers.
