JKA South instructors have a bumper year

JKA South Bassonia instructors have had a bumper year in 2018.

THE JKA South Bassonia instructors have had a bumper year in 2018, winning 10 gold medals, five silver medals and one bronze medal.

Senior instructor Bruce Smith (7th Dan) won gold for Veteran kata at the SAJKA Gauteng Championship and SAJKA National Championship and silver at the JKA Africa Cup.

Senior instructor Karyn Smith (5th Dan) won double gold for Veteran kata and kumite (fighting) at the SAJKA Gauteng Championship, gold for kumite and silver for kata at the SAJKA National Championship and double gold at the JKA Africa Cup.

Assistant instructor Brittany Shepstone (2nd Dan) won gold for Women kumite at the SAJKA Gauteng Championship, silver at SAJKA National Championship and bronze at the JKA Africa Cup.

In a nail-biting battle, Karyn and Brittany had an exciting student versus instructor fight in the final of the Karate Syndicate individual championship held earlier this month.

Beginner, intermediate and advanced classes, as well as special Dinky classes for four- to seven-year-olds, are held Monday to Thursdays.
