Emperors Palace goes the extra mile for charity

Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile this Saturday.

IT’S all about giving back to the community on November 3 when 16 of the best racing horses, 16 celebrities and 16 media partners get together to vouch their support for 16 charities.

On Saturday the annual Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile will take place on your doorstep at Turffontein racecourse. Gates will be open at 11am.

The Grade 2 run will see the fashionably dressed celebrities, charities and media partners such as Caxton South, Alberton Record/Comaro Chronicle, join forces in what must be one of the most exciting events on the Highveld racing calendar and even more so on Joburg’s social calendar.

The main race will have 16 charities, 16 celebrities and their media partners paired up with 16 racehorses on the first Saturday of November. It’s all up to the athletes on race day to determine the split of the R1-million to the respective charities.

The barrier draw took place on October 24 at Emperors Palace where the Alberton RECORD will pair up with Kriya Gangiah, Comaro CHRONICLE with Monoea and Southern COURIER will have Alex Caige as their celebrity. The respective horses for these media partners from Caxton South are New Predator, Bulleting Home and Tilbury Fort.

A mammoth R1-m to the spice up race day is just what the punters want.

Prince Albert II and Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco have made available R1-million for the maidens race. The inaugural Monaco Million Maiden Sprint over 1 160m is showing their support for this prestigious event.

The winner of this race takes home half of the R1-m in prize money, with R175 000 for second and R100 000 for third and the next seven finishers bags R10 000 each. Africa’s richest race for maiden is being supported by Prince Albert II, the reigning monarch of Monaco.

With an array of hospitality venues throughout the racecourse, including the spectacular City Deck, visitors can enjoy a variety of delicious meals while overlooking the parade ring and more importantly the action on the track.

SUPPORT YOUR CHARITY: Alex Caige will be the celebrity who will be shouting for Tilbury Fort to run in the Grade 2 Charity Mile. The annual Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile will take place at Turffontein racecourse.
