Former legend rugby referee turns 90

Cas de Bruyn will turn 90 in January.

FORMER well-known rugby referee Cas de Bruyn will turn 90 on January 13, 2019.

De Bruyn was a former international referee and teacher at Hoërskool Die Fakkel. He became a Test referee, refereeing Tests between South Africa vs Australia in 1969 and South Africa vs the British Isles in 1974.

A reunion and birthday celebration will take place on January 11 to honour him. His former Hoërskool Die Fakkel colleagues arranged the event.

The celebration will take place at Turffontein Bowling Club, Turfclub Street, Turffontein. Any donations towards presenting the celebrations will be appreciated.
