Feedback on developments in Ward 37

The developments form part of the IDP budget of Ward 37.

COUNCILLOR Tiaan Kotze would like to give feedback on development programmes in Ward 37. Some of these are complete while other developments are still ongoing. Residents are reminded that any suggestions for future programmes should be addressed at the IDP budget meeting in 2019. Watch this space for more details.

CORRIE OBERHOLZER CENTER: Phase one has been completed with outside maintenance on the solar geysers, painting and minor repairs. Phase two will deal with the units’ inside maintenance needs.
ALBERTON POLICE STATION REFURBISHMENT: Even though the Alberton Police Station refurbishment is not a municipal function to refurbish and upgrade, the issue was placed on the Ward IDP for provincial attention. The project is still ongoing and continues to be monitored.
TRANSFER STATION: The Heidelberg Road Transfer Station will finally be refurbished and upgraded in the current financial year, with the contractor already appointed. Upgrades include new ablution facilities for the staff at the station (previously it was reported that the staff use the veld as their toilet facilities were not working). The fence will be repaired and extended past the entrance, up to Heidelberg Road in an effort to hinder the harassment that customers experience when they visit.
JACOBA ROAD REFURBISHMENT: Jacoba Road Phase two has officially been signed off. Sadly, a water pipe burst has damaged part of the refurbishment which has been subsequently repaired.
