Secret Bake Club – what’s the secret?
Find out what the secret is!
WALKERVILLE: Sara Mortimer, a Walkerville resident, loved the thought of yesteryear baking, old recipes and ideas, and when her grandmother, who loved baking, passed away in October, she decided to begin a Secret Bake Club.
The CHRONICLE met with Sara and asked her why it’s called the Secret Bake Club? “The secret is the venue and what the person will be baking,” she said. “I choose the theme and they can bake away!”
The group have had their first Secret Bake Club meeting and Sara said it went exceptionally well. “A of couple of days before the first meeting I sent directions to the people who were interested and they all arrived with their baked products. I’d chosen Tranquility Farm in Walkerville for its homely appearance and vibe and we all had a fabulous time. Every six weeks or so we’ll hold another Secret Bake Club and we hope to grow the group from the seven we were at the last meeting. There are many women and men who are interested in baking and have no one to share their baking secrets with,” laughed Sara. “It’s also a wonderful way to meet likeminded people,” she added.
The next Secret Bake Club will take place in February and the theme will be Valentine’s Day.
