Electricity outages frustrate Albertonians

The RECORD asked Albertonians what they believe is the reason behind the many faulty cables and electricity outages.

FOLLOWING power outages that recently occurred in parts of Alberton, the RECORD asked Albertonians what they believe is the reason behind the many faulty cables and electricity outages.

SIZWE MAGAGULA: “In similar cases, we often blame the government, but the problem is with us, not with the government. These outages are a result of the high population in our province. To avoid this, there should be solar-powered systems installed for households and businesses.”
TERSIA SMIT: “This could be due to the high number of cables that often get stolen and the outages are bad for business, as we tend to lose clients due to this. Those that steal these cables delay the municipality in repairing them and they are lazy, they should get jobs rather than affecting us this way.”
JOSLYN SNELL: “We can complain as much as we want, but nothing will be done to change this situation. I believe this is caused by poor management by whoever is supplying us with electricity. It is unfortunate because this causes extra expenses one way or another.”
JAKES CLOETE: “This is not acceptable and it is the police’s responsibility to make sure that they prevent such things in our area from happening. Once the power goes out you often worry about your frozen foods which rely on electricity.”
