Rugby stars of night of the stars honoured

Alberton's rugby stars of the past season were honoured at Alberton Rugby Club’s night of the stars prize-giving.

ALBERTON – Among the senior players, De Wahl Rautenbach walked away with the prestigious overall player of the year award and Ernst Kleynhans was named senior player of the year.

Best forward and best senior backline players were Dean de Klerk and Gerry de Beer respectively. Other senior players awarded were: Ryno Hendrikz (most tries), Anton Vlok (most points), Ruan Nel (most points) and Kyle Wood (most promising player).

The rugby stars who won the club awards were:

  • Manager of the year: Tanya Ulgheri and Deon Hendrikz
  • Team of the year: U.19
  • Coach of the year: Jaco van Staden
  • Star club player: Ruan Nel
  • Outstanding leadership and most valuable senior player: Dwayne Korff (first team captain)
  • Player’s player of the year: Marius Burger.
