Alberton riders assert themselves in race

The riders took part at a cycling races at the Rand Water Board and XCOSA Bike Park.

ALBERTON High’s Mountain Biking Team took part in two races, one on July 28 and the second on August 3.

The Winter Fast One took place on July 28 at the Rand Water Board.

The race was open to school and private riders with over 550 riders entered for the race.

Five riders from Alberton High took part in the 40km race, achieving times ranging from 1:31 minutes to 2:01 minutes.

Four riders from Alberton High took part in the South African Schools Cycling Gauteng North and South Inter-School Mountain Bike event on August 3 at the Voortrekker Monument XCOSA Bike Park.

This friendly race consisted of technical 16 km laps with A, B and C-lines available to cover the range of skills the various riders possessed.

The Alberton High riders considered the track to be one of the hardest they have yet encountered.
