Learners at Kinder College Pre-School participated in an Alberton Eisteddfod and were awarded for their excellence.

The RECORD asked a few learners who participated in reciting poems individually on how they felt. This is what they had to say.

LEARNERS at Kinder College Pre-School participated in an Alberton Eisteddfod and were well awarded for their excellence.

The art competition, which tested their body language, pronunciation of words and how they demonstrated movements, was held at Creative Academy in Brackenhurst.

The group of learners got to participate in a prescribed choral verse, while the older learners took part in individual poems.

Alberton Eisteddfod focuses on showcasing musical performances, dance, visual arts and literature.

During the competition there were about nine classes from different schools around Alberton.

Learners’ efforts were acknowledged with certificates and judges gave participating learners constructive criticism.

As part of the competition, children were given poems which they were required to recite, as a way to test their memory skills.

Elriza Saayman, a principal at the school, said: “For the group’s exceptional performance, our Grade R learners received 93 percent for their choral verse. The school was also acknowledged with 16 diplomas as our overall performance afforded us more than 90 percent.”

The competition was aimed at encouraging children to socialise and work in teams.
