Eighth round of darts championship sees great competition
The winners of the eighth round was Estie Stoltz and Shawn Hogan.
THE eighth and penultimate round of the Johannesburg South Darts Champions League took place on September 8 at the Kibler Park Recreation Centre.
Being the round before the top 16 spots are secured, competition was fierce and brought along some surprise challengers.Round eight had the usual top contenders battling it out, but Alf Ungerer was eager to prove his mettle by steamrolling every opponent to reach the final. Ungerer met with top-of-the-log competitor Shawn Hogan, where Hogan took a hard fought 5-4 victory over Ungerer.
In the third and fourth place play-offs, Jimmy van Vuuren played against Greg Gertenbach. Van Vuuren claimed a 3-2 victory over Gertenbach and secured the final spot on the podium for the day.

In the ladies cup, Danielle Smit and Uvanka Gertenbach competed for the third place on the podium, where Gertenbach achieved a convincing victory, beating Smit 3-0.
Ladies top contenders Colette Biljon and Estie Stoltz had another close contended final that came down to the wire. Estie narrowly beat Colette 3-2 to take the honors for the day in the ladies division.
On October 20, the final round for players to compete in will take place, which will be the last chance to qualify for the top 16. The top 16 will be playing on November 30 in the Champions League final, with lots of prizes up for grabs.
