THERE was a celebratory mood as the Young At Heart group of Alberton Methodist Church gathered to celebrate cancer patients and survivors on October 16.
Seniors attended in their numbers at the church, wearing pink to remember those suffering from cancer.
The senior citizens from Queenshaven, Silwerkroon, Alberton Retirement Village and those residing in Alberton were entertained with a performance by Yoti die Griekse Boertjie.
On the day, attendees had an opportunity to light candles in memory of those who lost the battle against cancer. They were also treated with delicious meals and treats.
Kobie van Wyk, chairperson of Young At Heart, said: “Through our monthly Young At Heart gatherings, we always aim to give the elderly a great time. This time we embraced those suffering from cancer, those who conquered it and also those who lost their lives in the fight against cancer,” she said.
