She was part of the vanguard movement that created a post-apartheid dance music genre called Kwaito and over the years has cemented herself as an indelible part of the cultural landscape of South Africa with several award-winning solo albums including her magnum opus “Zabalaza” released in 2004 and awarded the “Album of the Decade of Freedom” by the Pan South African Language Board.
