I told her repeatedly that it was not necessary but she kept on insisting.

On November 16, I was standing in the queue at Checkers Hypermarket at Newmarket.

A lady named Sam was ahead of me with her daughter. After having her groceries processed through the till, she told the till operator to put my groceries through as well as she wanted to pay for them.

I was totally amazed and told her it was not necessary but she insisted. I told her repeatedly that it was not necessary but she kept on insisting.

When I asked her why she was doing this, she replied quite simply “because it’s Christmas”.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there were a few more like Sam.
