GALLERY: Cansa Relay takes place in Alberton once again

The Cansa Relay saw teams walk 12 hours in support of those fighting cancer.

The Cansa Relay took place for the first time in many years in Alberton on November 9 at Hoërskool Dinamika.

The relay was forced to start an hour later than initially planned, at 7pm, due to thunder threatening the safety of the relay participants.

Despite the less than ideal weather, the air of excitement was not lost, with everyone keen to take on the track for this worthy cause.

The track was opened by the Cansa survivors who took their lap of honour with a roaring applause from the other people present.

Following them in the next lap was the Cansa caretakers who took their own lap of honour.

With the track opened, the individual teams took to the track, taking turns relay style to ensure that one person from each team was on the track for the planned 12 hours of walking in support of the fight against cancer.
