Entries open for the MiWay Wally Hayward Marathon

The 2020 MiWay Wally Hayward Marathon gets underway at the Centurion Rugby Club on May 1, offering a total of up to R110 000 in prize money.

Entries are open for one of Gauteng’s most popular marathons and road races, the MiWay Wally Hayward Marathon.This event is the last opportunity for athletes to qualify for the 2020 Comrades Marathon.

The 2020 MiWay Wally Hayward Marathon gets underway at the Centurion Rugby Club on May 1, offering a total of up to R110 000 in prize money.

The event has become one of the largest road races in the country, with entries capped at 13 000 for all distances.

The marathon is hosted by Alpha Centurion Runners and Walkers and honours the legendary South African endurance athlete Wallace (Wally) Henry Hayward.

The event includes a 42.2km Comrades Marathon qualifier, a 21.1km half marathon, a 10km race, a 5km fun run and a 1km kiddies dash.

It caters for Athletics South Africa (ASA) registered and non-registered runners through to blind and wheelchair participants.

Participants over the age of 70, the blind and wheelchair participants all qualify for a free entry.

This will be an event that the whole family can enjoy. There will be a children entertainment area, where children will enjoy healthy refreshments and be entertained under supervision, while parents participate in one of the events.
