Count down for Midmar mile has begun

2020 aQuellé Midmar Mile starts.

The final countdown to the 2020 aQuellé Midmar Mile officially began in Pietermaritzburg on Thursday with the formalities for the event being announced at a media conference.

The world’s largest open water swimming event is scheduled to take place at Midmar Dam from February 8 to 9.

Most long open distance swimmers have arrived and ready for the all-important open water swim.

They include international masters swimming star and 1977 Midmar champion, Paul Blackbeard, British contender Ashley Hogg, 2016 women’s champion, Michelle Weber, seven-time winner Chad Ho and another British contender, Bailey Hairsine.

Courtney Pretorius, who comes from the South, will be swimming for the Friends of Swimmers Trust and Chad le Clos Foundation.
